Feeling your best

As well as physical, financial and social changes, it’s normal to also experience emotional changes during your pregnancy.

You're not alone. Mixed emotions are a normal and necessary part of preparing to become a parent.

It’s important to pay close attention to these emotions and if you don’t feel right, or notice yourself feeling sad or worried a lot, talk to someone you trust like your health coach, doctor or midwife.

It’s natural for every new mum to want a happy and healthy pregnancy. But sometimes you just need an extra helping hand so you’re not left to figure it out all on your own.

Some extra support

Building your support network by talking to other new mums-to-be, joining ante natal groups or free local exercises classes are a great way to share your experience and seek comfort from other women who have gone through similar journeys.

Our health coaches understand this and, by drawing on their own experiences and knowledge, will:

  • Help you understand how pregnancy might affect your mental health e.g. rest
  • Teach you tools to help you cope with your emotions during pregnancy
  • Talk to you about how you feel about being pregnant and what’s to come – the positive and the challenges
  • Help you look out for symptoms such as mood swings, worrying thoughts, feeling nervous, etc and tools to help you cope with these
  • Refer you to a specialist if further treatment is needed.

It can be helpful for both mums and dads to learn about ways to help themselves and others through this time of change. The sooner you seek treatment, the better - to have the healthiest start for you and your baby.
