Stop Smoking

Stopping smoking is one of the best things you can do for your own and your baby's health.

The earlier you quit, the better the benefits - for you and your baby.

We know how hard this can be but, with our help, you’re four times more likely to do it.

We've supported many women just like you who didn’t think they could do it, but did!

Your coach can provide you with FREE one-to-one support from the start of your pregnancy, up until baby's 2nd birthday. Your coach will be there for you right through your journey to becoming smoke-free, and they don’t judge – just give you the help you need to succeed.

Stopping smoking will benefit both you and your baby straight away. It will mean:

  • Reduced risk of miscarriage
  • Less morning sickness and fewer complications in pregnancy
  • A healthier pregnancy and a healthier baby
  • Reduced risk of still birth
  • You’ll cope better with the birth
  • Your baby is less likely to be born underweight
  • Increase essential oxygen supply to your baby.

Our service can not only help you, but also your partner and household members to quit.

If your partner or anyone else who lives with you smokes, their smoke can affect you and your baby before and after birth. You may also find it harder to quit if someone around you smokes.

Babies and children who breathe in secondhand smoke are more likely to get chest infections, meningitis and a cough that won’t easily go away. If they have asthma, their symptoms will only get worse. They are also more at risk of cot death and an ear infection called glue ear. For more information visit the NHS guidance here

It's never been easier to stop smoking and your health coach will be with you every step of the way to provide:

  • Non-judgemental confidential advice
  • Support all the way through your pregnancy to keep you motivated and support other lifestyle changes.

We can help you with NRT. It’s free if you don’t pay for your prescriptions and less than £30 for a twelve week course if you do the pre-payment scheme.

NRT can help you manage your cravings and is far less harmful than smoking. For example, a slow release patch can help you manage the background craving and a fast acting patch can help when you feel that sudden need to smoke.

Other NRT products can help you become smoke free too – such as gum, lozenges, nasal sprays, inhalators and e-cigarettes.

Did you know, e-cigarettes are at least 95% less harmful than cigarettes?

When you smoke it’s the nicotine you crave - but nicotine causes little harm. It’s the toxic smoke in tobacco cigarettes that is most harmful to your growing baby.

E-cigarettes allow you to inhale nicotine through a vapour rather than smoke. If using an e-cigarette helps you to stop smoking, it is much safer for you and your baby than continuing to smoke.
